(AINA) -- Egyptians, Muslims and Christians alike, are closely watching the controversy associated with the Ground Zero Mosque project, though for different reasons. The Egyptian media is giving this issue full coverage with articles mostly accusing Americans of Islamophobia, and supporting Muslims to hold on to their rights to build a mosque anywhere as guaranteed by the US constitution, regardless of what Americans think.
On the other hand, some influential Muslims rejected the idea of a Mosque near Ground Zero only on grounds that it would backfire on Islam, by connecting it to the 9/11 events. Dr. AbdelMotey Bayoumi, a member of Al Azhar's Islamic Research Academy, believes it could be a "Zionist conspiracy" to harm Islam.
The Shoebat Foundation has obtained a shocking audio recording of Rauf's own voice boasting in Arabic that Obama's historic speech in Cairo was provided by the Imam's work with the Cordova Initiative in what the Imam called "The Blue Print" which, according to him, was the solution to the Islamic-American divide. Rauf claimed that Chapter 6 of the Imam's work engineered by the Cordova Initiative was the construct for the entire speech. Audio Highlight(Listen Now)
QUESTION: So who really was speaking on that historic day of June 4th 2009 in Cairo, Egypt?President Obama or the Imam of the proposed Ground Zero Mosque, Feisal Abdul Rauf?
ANSWER: Feisal Abdul Rauf! (Link to audio excerpt of Raul interview at bottom of page)
Rauf claimed that Chapter 6 of the Imam's work engineered by the Cordova Initiative was the construct for the entire speech:
President Obama says Islam has always been part of America, which raises the question, does the president know something about American history that we don't?
It has become customary for presidents to offer greetings to various religious communities on the occasion of their most holy days. PresidentsFord and Carter both issued Ramadan messages, as did PresidentsClinton and George W. Bush. The Ramadan greeting became intensely political during Mr. Bush's tenure because he was seeking to dispel the charge that the war on terrorism was a crusade against Islam. But Mr. Obama has used the occasion of Ramadan to rewrite U.S. history and give Islam a prominence in American annals that it has not earned.
Mahmoud al-Zahar said Muslims "have to build everywhere" so that followers can pray, just like Christians and Jews build their places of worship.
Al-Zahar spoke Sunday on "Aaron Klein Investigative Radio" on WABC-AM. He is a co-founder of Hamas and its chief on the Gaza Strip.
Sen. Chuck Schumer says Al-Zahar's comments don't carry any weight because Hamas is a terrorist organization. Schumer hasn't taken a stand on the mosque.
Mary Abdelmassih, (AINA) -- On August 13 Sheikh Tobah, Imam of the village of Shimi 170 KM south of Giza, called during Muslim Friday prayers for Jihad against Christians living there. As a result the Christian Copts living in the village were assaulted over two consecutive days. Eleven Copts were hospitalized and many Coptic youths were arrested.
The assaults begain a couple of hours after the Sheikhs incitement. An argument between Copt Maher Amin, who was washing his taxi, and Mohamed Ali Almstaui, a Muslim extremist from the village, escalated into violence as Mohamad assaulted Maher. The altercation was stopped by bystanders. However, after the evening break of Ramadan fast, Ahmad, the brother of the perpetrator Mohamad, who is reported to belong to an extremist organization, together with twenty other men, went to Maher's family home, breaking down the door and assaulting him and his family with batons, including his old mother and his paralyzed sister, injuring them and breaking their furniture.
President Obama on Saturday sought to
clarify his comments supporting the building of a mosque near ground
zero that have ignited a political firestorm ahead of a difficult
election season for Democrats.
During a trip to Florida for a family
vacation, Obama said his comments on Friday night were only directed at
the constitutional right of the mosque to be there.
"I was not commenting and I will not
comment on the wisdom of making the decision to put a mosque there," he
said in response to a reporter's question after he spoke about efforts
to aid the Gulf Coast region. "I was commenting very specifically on
the right people have that dates back to our founding. That's what our
country is about."
Obama came under instant fire after jumping
into the middle of a cultural clash Friday night with comments that
have elevated the contentious issue to the presidential level.
White House spokesman Bill Burton released the following statement on behalf of Obama's stance on constructing the mosque.
The controversy over the proposed mosque at the WTC site has become ground zero for American liberal fanaticism. New York City’s powerful elites have histrionically made support of the mosque into a litmus test of how truly tolerant Americans are: If you question the wisdom of building the mosque near the WTC site, or if you raise concerns about its leaders, you must be a bigot.
And liberal fundamentalism is intolerant of dissent. The enlightened elites who now dominate our politics and culture seem to believe that most Americans are ignorant and intolerant bigots who cannot be trusted to do the right thing on their own, and therefore must be coerced. Think ObamaCare, think civilian trial in New York City for the 9/11 mastermind and now the outrageous project to build a mosque at Ground Zero.
