AP: Palestinian extremists helped finance and train members of the militant Egyptian group that carried out deadly attacks at Sinai resorts, Egypt said Tuesday, making a direct connection for the first time between militants on either side of the Egypt-Gaza border.

A SENIOR member of an Islamic organisation linked to Al-Qaeda is funding his activities through the kidnapping of Christian children who are sold into slavery in Pakistan. The Sunday Times has established that Gul Khan, a wealthy militant who uses the base of Jamaat-ud Daawa (JUD) near Lahore, is behind a cruel trade in boys aged six to 12. They are abducted from remote Christian villages in the Punjab

UPI-Iran's parliament passed a new law this week that would force the country's Jews, Christians and other religious minorities to wear color-coded ID badges to designate them as non-Muslims in a move that heralds broader faith-based persecution.

- "When our major aid recipients engage in conduct that flies in the face of our own values then we ourselves are tarnished," said Rep. David Obey of Wisconsin, the Appropriations Committee's senior Democrat. Obey said he will try to cut back the bill's $1.3 billion in military aid to Egypt -- the second biggest recipient of U.S. aid after Israel -- when it reaches the full committee. The rest of Egypt's appropriation was for non-military aid.

Asked if there should be a ban on the building of mosques in Germany as long as the building of churches in some Islamic states is forbidden, 56 per cent agreed, said the poll. Some 91 per cent said they associated Islam with oppression of women, up from 85 per cent in 2004. The statement that Islam was dominated by fanaticism was shared by 83 per cent, compared to 75 per cent two years ago, the poll showed.
