An Egyptian boy shouts during an anti-Israeli protest in Cairo Thousands of demonstrators chanted anti-Israel slogans and vowed support for Hizbullah outside a Cairo mosque Friday, part of protests across the Muslim world on the Islamic day of prayer.

In an action organized by Egypt's main opposition group, the banned Muslim Brotherhood, thousands of primarily young men flashed the "V" for victory sign and waved the Koran over their heads outside the Istiqama Mosque. At least twice as many riot police with helmets and shields were on hand and there were no immediate reports of violence.

The crowd waved anti-Israeli and anti-American banners, calling for war against Israel and the expulsion of Jerusalem's ambassador to Egypt.

"Oh Sunni, Oh Shi'ite, let's fight the Jews," they chanted. "The Jews and the Americans are killing our brothers in Lebanon."
