 European Parliament

His Excellency Mr. Hans- Gert Pottering
President of the European Parliament
Strasbourg

His Excellence;

On behalf of the Voice of the Copts I would like thank you and all of the
members of parliament concerning the January 17th 2008 resolution.
The consciousness of parliaments' members and European citizens comforts us
in our efforts in fighting the discrimination and persecution of our people
who live in the pharaoh's land.

On the twenty-fourth of this month you will be visiting Egypt to meet with
members of the Egyptian government and parliament. We are certain that they
will try hard to illustrate a different picture of what is occurring in the
country. They will do whatever they can, in order to reveal that the
resolution is not accurate. That is normal from that regime.

We at Voice of the Copts are convinced that you have all the evidence that
back the resolution, meanwhile we encourage you to demand the Egyptian
authorities to fulfill your recommendations.

Herewith, a list that we are asking the Egyptian government to comply with:

-       Stop the actual state police and emergency law.
-       Stop discrimination against Copts and other minorities.
-       Separation of church and state.
-       Freedom of religion.
-       Eliminate the indication of the religion from any and all documents
of identity.

       Cordially,

Dott. Arch. Ashraf H. Ramelah
President Voice of the Copts
